We thought it would be nice to hear first hand what our residents say about us our service and our place and what it has meant and means to them.

Before I came to St Edmunds, I was very isolated and never left my flat and could not go anywhere or do anything, because of my depression and social anxiety.

Whilst still not great with going out on my own, I have now established contact with my family and volunteer and help at a farm five days a wek, I interact more with diffrent people, always attend support meetings and groupwork sessions, and I'm also completing online learning courses with open learn.

I moved in to St Ed's and immediately felt I had lived here already for several years as i felt so settled in my new adobe.

St Ed's gave me support for moving on and gives advice and help when needed.  The amount of support we receive at St Ed's is excellent .

St. Edmunds have given me the tools I need to be able to live independently, in the community and I now have a life free of alcohol misuse.

St. Edmunds staff are knowledgeable, professional, caring and warm hearted.

Before I came to St. Edmunds resettlement project, my mental health was erratic and I was not in a good place. I found it hard to go out, do normal day to day activities, and trust and interact with people.

Since coming to St Edmunds. I have more clarity, ambition, drive and confidence in myself, and become more socially active.  This has been achieved with the support I get at St Edmunds, alongside the external agencies I now engage with, something that I would have never done before .

St Edmunds if the best compared to the other places I have been in before, nowhere has ever done as much for me that St Edmunds before to help and support me.

St Edmunds has opened new doors for me and have helped me to reach my true potential and make a success of my life - and for that i am truly grateful SD

St Edmunds helped you to help yourself in your addiction to sober living.  Staff are very kind and understanding people who are there to walk you through the issues that may arise, such as gaining the skills and experience needed for independent living and the moving on to the accommodation.  MH

Before coming to St Edmunds I was in various foster placements and just before my 18 th birthday
I left my final foster placement to stay in a Taster flat in Rochdale and had an allocated Personal Advisor
from the LAC team who I felt did not support me  as I rarely saw her. The taster flat was in disrepair and I

was then moved to numerous supported accommodation facilities.

My visits from my LAC worker were minimal and I felt alone and unsupported. I then began to make use of
llicit substances due to feelings of hopelessness and isolation. I recognised my life was on a downward

spiral and sought support from the Sanctuary Café who then referred me to Jennet House, I was then subsequently referred onto Redwood due to my illicit substance misuse. Following which I completed a programme of rehabilitation and was then referred to St Edmunds Charity.

During all the moves to various locations I felt anxious, nervous and alone. I had no trust in people and felt isolated from the community.

I had difficulty communicating my feelings during any engagements. At St Edmunds I was allocated a support worker who made me feel at ease, whom I felt didn’t judge. I was shown my flat and almost instantly felt safe and secure. We discussed my plans moving forward and I was happy to share my journey up until this point. NL
